There used to be a famous department store in Glasgow called "Goldbergs" - until it closed down in 1992. It was a tradition amongst many Scottish shoppers to visit the store during Christmas to visit its famous Grotto (as I did many times as a child). After the store had closed for more than ten years, a friend of mine, who's hobby is "Urban Exploring" (exploring and photographing abandoned buildings), took a picture of the interior of the store and one of the pictures that he took was of the angel used for the Christmas tree which I remembered from my childhood.

I composed this piece as a memorial for the angel that sat on top of the tree in the Goldbergs' Department store in the 1970s.
