
*Education
Alan Fleming-Baird studied with composer Sir John Tavener before attending the Royal College of Music studying; composition with Jeremy Dale Roberts, piano with David Ward, and conducting with Neil Thompson. He then received a John Mather Scholarship to undertake post-graduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He has also taken part in seminars with: Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, George Benjamin, Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, and Brian Eno. As well as his qualifications in music, he also holds an Honours Degree in English Literature from the Open University.
*Performances
His music has been performed by, amongst others the; London Festival Orchestra,during their "Music in Cathedrals" concert series, Sinfonia of London, whos players were drawn together for media projects at the Abbey Road Recording Studios, Philharmonia Orchestra,for their Royal Festival Hall season, Kensington Philharmonic Orchestra,who performed his first orchestral music, Composer's Ensemble, Belcea Quartet,during their status as junior fellows at the Royal College of Music, Edinburgh Quartet,as part of a workshop at Edinburgh University, Paragon Ensemble,for their season of concerts at the Tron Theatre entitled "Whatever Happened to Music", Psappha, Croft Ensemble,an ensemble formed by the composer, City of Birmingham Choir,who commissioned a large scale work inspired by popular songs from the Second World War, Trinity Church Choir,with whom the composer was choirmaster, Morley College Choir, who performed his "Missa Brevis" at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and members of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, who's players formed the Scottish Philharmonic Orchestra,and who commissioned "Voices of Our Kind" for their season "A Cocktail, A Canope, and A Concert", as well as numerous amateur groups and musicians.
(( Some of the venues where his work have received their first performances include Purcell Room, South Bank Centre, Royal Festival Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, The Victoria & Albert Museum, St John's Smith Square, Reid Concert Hall, Scottish Gallery of Modern Art, Institute of Contemporary Arts(ICA), Duke's Hall, Hackney Empire, Union Chapel Concert Hall (Islington) and in the festivals in: Glasgow : Plug, London : Spitalfields, City of London, France : Cannes Film Festival, Brighton : Brighton Festival, Edinburgh : Edinburgh Festival Fringe. ))

*Teaching
Teaching posts have included classroom teaching at Collingham College, London, tutor at Westminster Tutors, London, lecturer in adult music education at Chelsea and Westminster College, musicianship teacher for the RSAMD's Youthworks project, as well as a peripatetic piano teaching post at the London Oratory School.
* Pianist/Musical Director/Conductor
In the west-end he has worked on the shows : "Starlight Express" (as assistant M.D.) and "Cats"(pit keyboards), as well as fringe shows in London and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in panto.
As a pianist and/or conductor he has worked extensively in choral music with choirs such as : The Jubilo Choral Society (Edinburgh), Sherwood Junior Choir (Paisley),City of Birmingham Choir, Langbank Singers(Glasgow), Napier University Choir (Edinburgh),New London Voices, Trinity Chamber Choir(Glasgow), and Morley College Choir(London).
Currently Alan is a choir master and organist for Renfrew Trinity, Church of Scotland.
